Choosing Modular Construction with Westchester Modular: An Overview of the Many Advantages

When it comes to building a new home, choosing modular construction offers numerous benefits over traditional building methods. Westchester Modular Homes (WMH) stands out as a leader in this industry, providing a range of advantages that ensure a smooth, efficient, and high-quality building process.

In a series of posts, we will cover in detail how we work with clients to build their dream homes. We’ll start with today’s post on choosing modular construction for its many advantages.  Then we will profile one home in particular – a spacious 5 bedroom on Martha’s Vineyard, taking you through its construction from our client’s initial choice to the finished product.

Choosing Modular Construction Vs. Stick Built

Building a home that meets all of your needs is exciting – and at the same time can be a daunting process. Which builder do you choose?  How long will it take? Will there be costly delays? At WMH, we recommend an easy first step – join one of our in-person or virtual tours of our factory in Wingdale, NY. You’ll see actual homes being built and we’ll take you through the process step by step. WMH is completely transparent about the process and with over 8,000 homes built, we are experts in delivering clients homes. In fact, we deliver a new home almost every day of the year!  During the tour, you’ll learn more details about the following.

Speed of Construction

One of the most significant benefits of modular construction is the speed at which homes can be built. Unlike traditional construction, which can be delayed by weather and other unforeseen factors, modular homes are built in a quality-controlled, factory setting. This environment allows for continuous, uninterrupted work, leading to faster completion times. With WMH, your home is built in the factory in as little as six days!

Skilled, Dedicated Staff

At Westchester Modular, the staff building your home is not just a group of workers but a skilled, knowledgeable team of dedicated owners.  Our unique employee-owned structure offers many advantages. This built-in labor force consists of skilled craftsmen who have a personal stake in the quality of the homes they build. They are vested in your home and in showing up every day to deliver top quality. This ownership mentality ensures that every home is constructed with the utmost care and attention to detail, resulting in a superior finished product. Staff turnover resulting in delays is common in the residential construction industry but not the case at WMH!

On-Time Delivery

One of the biggest challenges in home construction is dealing with delays, which can be costly and frustrating. Bad weather can delay a project for weeks as staff can’t work.  Poor weather can also ruin expensive building materials.

WMH takes pride in its ability to deliver homes on time. The factory setting eliminates the risk of material damages or weather-related delays common in typical traditionally constructed homes.  We build homes 52 weeks a year regardless of the weather!

Quality Control and Warranties

Quality control is a cornerstone of Westchester Modular’s philosophy. Each home undergoes rigorous inspections throughout the construction process, ensuring that every aspect meets or exceeds industry standards. A third party (PFS) comes to the factory and inspects each module as it goes through the construction process, and they sign off that all work was completed and complies with local building codes. Every WMH home also comes with a 10-year structural warranty and in our many years of business – this warranty has never been used but gives clients peace of mind. WMH provides the warranty through 2-10 Homebuyers’ Warrants.

Innovation and Experience

Westchester Modular has over 35 years of experience and a track record of innovation in the modular home industry. We continuously improve home designs, and use the latest in state-of-the-art materials, and construction techniques to provide the best possible homes for our clients.  We build sustainably as well as our homes are energy-efficient and our process naturally results in less waste.
